Salesforce Fact #122 | Prevent on insert

Suppose we have a requirement that we can enter data in a field only after the record is created. We can define validation rule to achieve this.

Using ISNEW() we can do that. Another alternative is checking ISBLANK(ID) since Id field is populated only after a record is created.
